The role of the mis-detected ne2k in the hang remains unclear though. Same with the ehci driver-version which I’m not sure how to check anyways. This indeed seems to be a problem of the ISA driver. The wifi used to be Intel too, but that card didn’t work very well so I replaced it with the Broadcom one I took out of conyroller broken laptop, works much better the old one randomly disconnected and sometimes didn’t connect to certain routers.
